Invisalign is virtually invisible so no one will notice you are wearing them. Invisalign is a serious of custom-made clear plastic aligners that are similar to a sport mouthguard. These aligners place a gentle pressure on the teeth to guide them into position. The aligners are removable so you can eat all your favourite foods and clean your teeth normally. Approximately every two weeks, your aligners are replaced with new ones to gradually straighten your teeth.
Virtually invisibly alternative to braces
At Smile Perfection Dental in Aspley and Bulimba we offer a range of orthodontic treatments to suit our patients and their lifestyle. One lifestyle friendly orthodontic option we provide is Invisalign, this is popular amongst adults who wish to straighten their teeth but do so discreetly. There are a number of advantages to straightening your teeth with Invisalign such as:
Removable
Invisalign aligners can be taken out when you eat and drink. This means that you are able to enjoy all your favourite foods without having to worry about getting food stuck in wires or brackets. However, it is important you brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in.
Maintain oral hygiene
After every meal and before bed you are able to brush (and floss) your teeth. The advantage of this is that you can keep your teeth and gums clean without needing to consistently go to the dentist for oral health check-ups and cleans.
The Invisalign Process
Getting Invisalign takes three appointments with our visiting orthodontist Dr Daxter Yeo. The first appointment is a consultation and impressions of your teeth are taken. Theses impressions are then sent to Invisalign HQ in America where your aligners are custom-made and where your digital treatment plan is created.
The second appointment is when you will receive your digital treatment plan so that you and your orthodontist can see what the end result will be. When you are happy with digital treatment plan and your Smile Perfection dentist is happy with the treatment plan, we will receive the aligners.
The third appointment is where you get your aligners are your Smile Perfection dentist will explain the process and your role in the treatment. While Invisalign is removable, you must remember that ideally the aligners need to stay in for as long as your dentist prescribes. Failure to comply with the treatment plan could result in one of two things happening: either the treatment takes much longer than it should have, or you do not receive the results you should have.
