White Fillings

An inlay fits within the grooves of the tooth’s biting surface while onlay can cover one or more cusps of the tooth. Inlays and onlays are a natural looking alternative to fillings. Made from porcelain for strength, they are custom made to fit and fill most types of cavities and are almost impossible to distinguish from your natural teeth.

Usually taking two appointments to complete, inlays and onlays look exactly like the rest of your tooth and are so durable that they need not be replaced for many years.

At your first appoint any decay is removed and your tooth is shaped, then an impression of your tooth is taken and sent to the lab where the restoration is made. In the meantime, a temporary inlay or only is placed until your final restoration is ready.

At the next appointment, the temporary inlay or onlay is removed and the permanent one is placed. Once you and your dentist are happy with the fit the inlay or onlay will be bonded into place.
