Dentofacial aesthetics considers more than just your teeth. It looks at your teeth in relation to the rest of your smile. Treatments such as teeth whitening and dental veneers can be combined with non-invasive or minimally invasive cosmetic treatments such as wrinkle treatments, lip fillers and gummy smile treatment.
Improving the appearance of your teeth but not the rest of your smile can actually highlight other problems in your smile. With the use of minimally invasive and non-invasive cosmetic treatments, Dr Helen Ng can refine and rejuvenate your smile.
At Smile Perfection, Dr Helen Ng can help soften wrinkles and revitalise your lips with a range of cosmetic treatments:
Wrinkle Treatment
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used for more than twenty years and have been proven to be safe and effective.
There are a number of factors that can cause wrinkles, such as aging, a lot of time in the sun as well as smoking. Wrinkles can age your beautiful smile and your overall appearance. At our dental practices in Aspley, Bulimba or Chermside, Dr Helen can use a combination of non-surgical anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to create a beautiful smile.
Wrinkle treatment generally lasts around three to four months. Results from the treatment will appear after three to five days.
Lip Fillers
As we age our lips begin to lose volume. They become thinner and less defined.
Dermal fillers are a great way to recapture the appearance of fuller luscious lips: this is a non-surgical treatment that can be used to change the shape, volume and size of your lips.
The results of this treatment will be visible a week after treatment and we ask that you don’t apply make-up for a full 24 hours after the procedure. Generally, dermal filler treatment lasts around six months and is a great way to complete your beautiful, natural-looking teeth.
Gummy Smile Treatment
Too much gum can distort the appearance and proportions of a beautiful smile.
There are two factors that can cause gummy smiles: overactive muscles that control the upper lip and excessive gum tissue. Thanks to advances in cosmetic medicine, excessive gummy tissue can be treated with laser dentistry. Prior to laser dentistry, removing excessive gummy tissue was a painful procedure that involved a scalpel and stitches.
Now with laser gum contouring the procedure is virtually pain-free and removes excess gum tissue. The procedure takes around two minutes per tooth and is a bloodless procedure. Your gums should heal in a couple of days.
To treat overactive upper lip muscles Dr Helen Ng uses injectable muscle relaxants. This treatment involves injecting the muscle relaxant into the overactive muscles, which helps to reduce the elevation of the upper lip. This virtually painless procedure can be carried out in ten minutes and you will be able to return to normal activity straight away. Generally, results are seen a week or two after treatment.
